1.6 From Effluent to Industry: Water Reuse and Micropollutant Removal

As pressure on freshwater resources increases, industries are looking for alternative and reliable water sources. The REGAIN project explores the reuse of treated municipal wastewater from the city of Groningen as a source for industrial water, while simultaneously addressing the challenge of removing pharmaceutical residues and other micropollutants.

In this session, partners from the REGAIN consortium share their experiences from the project, highlighting technological solutions, water quality challenges and the development of a viable business case for industrial reuse. The discussion will explore how collaboration between water authorities, industry and research can unlock new water resources and contribute to both water security and improved water quality.
