Value creation through circular water systems

Chair: dr. ir Peter van der Maas

Climate change, water pollution and depletion of raw materials are driving forces to reconsider the current water management practices and the current (linear) use of water. Making water systems circular can yield (social) benefits in several areas, especially if an integral scope is used.

In this session, examples of multiple value creation are presented from different perspectives.

  • Regain: reuse of domestic wastewater as process water for industry, speaker: to be announced.
  • Use of rainwater for livestock watering, speaker: Karolina Smiech, Centre of Expertise Water Technology (CEW), Leeuwarden, Netherlands
  • Multiple value creation by closing water cycles, speaker: Fabi van Berkel MSc, KWR.
